Muck Studios is a tiny company that my friend and I founded together,
driven by our mission to create enjoyable games that motivate users to
maintain a healthy lifestyle. Combining our love for video games and
fitness, this endeavor has always been an exciting challenge to take on.
My role primarily revolves around overseeing the product design aspect,
encompassing tasks related to game design, character creation, and story
development. Here's a glimpse into our journey.
Fitness Buddy
The first app we built was a fitness game called Fibu (Fitness Buddy),
heavily inspired by pet games like Tamagotchi. The initial gameplay loop
was quite simple:
Unfortunately, while we felt that our character was cute and the
collectables were on the right track, we ultimately couldn’t make the core
gameplay loop fun enough at the time. So we decided to shelve the app and
change direction.
Wrist Warriors
Our first release will be called Wrist Warriors. Inspired by NES era
retro-JRPG’s, borrowing elements from titles like Pokemon and Final
Fantasy.
Just exercise to level up!
You control three characters, and each party member is attuned to one of
the three Apple Watch rings.
Close your rings each day to level up the corresponding member, and watch
them automatically grow in power!
Journey through a tiny world
Scroll through what might be the tiniest RPG world made to date, using the
Apple Watch’s digital crown and traverse various biomes.
Battle devilish foes
Cycle through your party members via the digital crown. Assess
opportunities to leverage your party's strengths and exploit your enemies'
weaknesses to secure victory in every encounter!
Collect rewards
Enemies you defeat can be collected as cards, featuring hand crafted pixel
art following NES color palette rules. Collect them all to complete your
codex!
